Lead QA Engineer

As Lead QA Engineer, you will serve as a member of an Agile team. You will spearhead the design, development and execution of test plans that ensure the performance, safety and efficacy our proprietary eGlycemic Management System® (eGMS®), a cloud-hosted, web-based software-as-a-medical-device platform used by healthcare providers to deliver personalized diabetes therapy management and insulin optimization on an inpatient and outpatient basis. The position reports to the Director of Engineering and typically manages three to six projects (in various stages) concurrently. Strong troubleshooting and reasoning skills and the ability to debug and resolve difficult technical problems are essential.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead team of quality assurance engineers.
  • Ensure all processes consistently result in high quality releases that match product requirements.
  • Develop quality assurance project plans, test scenarios, test data and test environments, and continually work to optimize tools, techniques and overarching approaches.
  • Perform all types of testing, including manual, automated, functional, installation, acceptance, compatibility, load, stress, UAT, performance, volume, data-driven and backend.
  • Troubleshoot problems and perform root cause analyses.
  • Collaborate with product management and development personnel to fully comprehend product requirements, assess quality assurance needs.
  • Determine best methods for maximizing efficiency, effectiveness and coverage.
  • Document and communicate accurate tested surfaces as well as potential risks and impacts.
  • Work closely with software developers and architects to resolve defects.



  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or related field of study.
  • Seven or more years’ experience managing quality assurance processes for enterprise web-based applications, including user interfaces, databases, reports, APIs, batch/ETLs and automation.
  • Working knowledge of full system life cycles.
  • Strong proficiency with quality assurance tools, such as qTest, Selenium IDE, Selenium RC, Selenium WebDriver, Selenium Grid, QTP, QC, SoapUI, Winrunner, Loadrunner and Robot Framework.
  • Strong proficiency with one or more automation technologies, such as Chef, Puppet, Rundeck Jenkins, Cruise Control, Selenium Grid/RC/Webdriver, Httpwatch, BrowserMob proxy or Watir.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development (e.g., Scrum).
  • Familiarity with Java, C#, Python and Perl.
  • Familiarity with SQL databases and/or SQL querying tools.
  • Familiarity with software development life cycle (SDLC)/system development life cycle.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, time management and organizational skills, with significant attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and precisely, verbally and in writing with team members at all levels of the organization.


  • Experience with health information systems (e.g., electronic medical record systems; laboratory information systems; admission, discharge and transfer systems; charting systems, etc.).
  • Experience with FDA-regulated software (i.e., Class II software-as-a-medical device).
  • Previous or current employment with a health information technology company, medical device company, hospital, health system or other healthcare organization.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based testing applications, AWS, TDD, BDD, agile testing pyramid and collecting quality metrics from CI/CD tooling.
  • Working knowledge of Web Services API (RESTful).
  • Hands-on scripting/coding experience with Selenium, Gatling, Cucumber, Behat, C++, .Net, Perl, C, C++, C#, Java, PowerShell or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience with javascript-based technologies, such as nodejs, angular.js, protractor, karma and cucumber.
  • Experience with Jira or other helpdesk/ticketing system.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in Waltham, Massachusetts office.
  • Some work on nights and weekends may be required to achieve goals of department and company.
  • Must be able to manage responsibilities within distributed, matrix organization (some fellow employees work remotely or in different office location).
