As a Data Scientist for Glytec, you will work with complex and varied clinical and financial data sets from hospitals and health systems throughout the country. Critical and creative thinking are equally essential. The role supports both pre-sale and post-sale projects involving our patented and proprietary eGlycemic Management System® (eGMS®). This pioneering technology is a cloud-hosted, software-as-a-service solution proven to reduce safety risks and costs of care for people with diabetes by enabling best practices in glucose control and medication optimization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ascertain internal and external project needs. Formulate plans and hypotheses. Estimate labor hours and timelines.
  • Process, cleanse and verify integrity of data captured through eGMS® as well as other third-party healthcare information technology systems and applications. Provide constructive feedback on data and ontology quality, to include suggested enhancements and corrective actions.
  • Apply relevant data mining, statistical analysis and visualization techniques to uncover meaningful insights and solve challenging problems.
  • Develop, validate, automate, optimize and maintain machine learning algorithms and predictive models.
  • Construct and present salient depictions of discoveries, recommendations and rationale in manner readily consumed and easily understood by business stakeholders and clinicians.



  • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or related field.
  • Excellent scripting and programming skills, with proficiency in R, Python and T-SQL.
  • Three or more years’ experience working with large, multivariate data sets and performing intricate statistical analyses.
  • Three or more years’ experience using machine learning techniques to develop and optimize algorithms and predictive models.
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools such as Tableau, QlikView, PowerBI or Sisense.


  • Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or related field.
  • Clinical education or degree in nursing, nutrition, pharmacy or life sciences.
  • Previous or current employment with a health information technology, medical device or pharmaceutical company.

Working Conditions:

  • Work in Waltham, MA office, Greenville, SC office or remotely (i.e., virtual office).
  • Must be able to manage responsibilities within distributed, matrix organization serving internal and external constituents (many fellow employees work remotely).
